History
Campo Real has an ancient origin, his name is attached to ancestral tradition, and it has never ceased to be “field”. The first was the name given to Village of Field, to mid-tenth century. During the Moorish Almoacid field called, until 1047 when it was released by Ferdinand I the Great, first king of Castile. In 1048 he fell into the hands blackberries and was finally conquered in 1118 by the Archbishop of Toledo. The final name of Campo Real and the title of town in 1580 was received from the hands of Felipe II.
Heritage
Real Field we appeal to both its historic and natural environment that surrounds. Take a walk through its streets, we will not only recover the intimate flavor of an agricultural people but admire the richness of its architectural heritage and taste the products of their land.
The historical reference Campo Real is the church Santa Maria del Castillo, Provincial Historic Artistic Monument in November 1981.
His past is very old and seems to have been a Templar monastery of the Hospitaller Order of St. John. They built their castle on a hill hospital or height, which may explain the name of the church of Santa María del Castillo keeps inside unrecognized treasures and worthy of visit. The interior of the building and the head must have been built in the twelfth century or XIII but the rest was rebuilt due to a fire in the seventeenth century and is worth climbing the staircase lined with images of the twelve apostles, to devise a view of the town and its surroundings.
A tour of the chapels of the town also shows the religious wealth that once enjoyed Campo Real. First, the Chapel of the Holy Christ of the Rock, located behind the Plaza Mayor, is a building with a nave of the eighteenth century, stone façade lined with plaster and slightly elliptical dome. On the outskirts of town is the Chapel of Sorrows, rectangular structure and vaulted ceiling with boxes, sixteenth-century. Finally at the entrance of the village are the Hermitage of Our Lady of Remedies, XVI century building, with groined nave dome on pendentives. Of note is the image of Candlekeep.
Olive trees centenarians , heritage experts and farmers suffered, populate the land and surrounding Campo Real, in the southeast area of the province of Madrid. Emphasize its recognized quality products: oil, cheese and olives, we can easily acquire during our visit.
