History
Tradition has it that this town was founded by the Muslims when they occupied this land, even if the original name, Pozuelo de Torres, could refer to the Arab watchtowers so common in this area, whose purpose was to organize a defensive line against pressure from the Christian kingdoms.
The urban settlement will emerge with the reconquest of these territories by Alfonso VI, an important fact was that the definitive conquest of these lands was made by the Archbishop of Toledo Agen Barnabas in the year 1119. A few years later, in 1126, Alfonso VII gave these lands to the Archbishop of Toledo, which were incorporated into the manor and its history Prelatic joins the archbishops of Toledo.
The first man who took over these lands was Archbishop Raymond, who, in the year 1135, granted a charter for the organization of the territory, “Old or Jurisdiction The jurisdiction of Alcalá”.
During the following centuries and even nuesO5 days there were no major transfumn1acjos, so Pozuelo del Rey today remains one of the few municipalities in Madrid, where agriculture still plays a major role compared to other productive sectors.

It has a tower at the head, completely renovated and made into bricks. On the facade of the church shows a stone sundial with Arabic numerals, and stands inside the main altar of the year 1,550.
In the same square is the Town Hall, built on the architectural remains of the old building of the seventeenth century. Next to the building of the Town Hall and attached thereto by a metal frame and glass tower there is a small, structured in two parts which are separated by a slight ledge, on top of which houses the clock.
Before leaving this town, we ended our visit to the admiration of a beautiful chapel located on the outskirts of town, the Hermitage of the Virgen de la Cabeza. The building is Neoclassical, Renaissance (XVI-XVII), and although the interior is quite simple, it is worth the beautiful ride through trees leading up to the chapel, and the environment where the well next to the door .
