It is not known the time of founding of Valverde, but the tradition that formerly llamón Quejo, a name that actually corresponds to an unpopulated area located about 3 km. east of Pozuelo, whose population was forced to leave because of the plague, moved to its present location. The first historical reference to Valverde's have in the year that King Alfonso VII of Castile archbishopric of Toledo donated to the town of Alcala and villages. This community regime ended in 1564, the year in which Valverde went on to acquire the exempt category of village.
